I have read about quite a few people who used their ancestrydna and uploaded it to Myheritage. First thing is that id like to point out is that my mother is mainly Italian, maybe small amount of mid east and trace of N Africa. My father has ZERO italian, and is primarily Irish, English, Western European. This reflected on my first ancestry dna test, and the numbers looked right, with myself having 35% Italian, 5% Mid east and other small amounts to reflect my mother’s ethnicity. Now I check, and Myheritage has my Southern Europe at 63% with Italy at 47% and Greece at 16%. This implies i inherited more Dna from my mother. Yes, i understand there can always be some distant relative on my Father’s side who had Italian, but i traced back hundreds of years and have not found it, and neither does Ancestry results reflect that either. My question is , is Myheritage just not too accurate with Ethnicity Estimates? And also too.. ancestry had me at a very tight range for 24-27% France ancestry, meaning each test showed me coming back with that range. Now, Myheritage doesnt show western europe at all. What gives?
I was so excited to receive my results but they are total rubbish. I have researched my family extensively over many years and I'm mostly German, then English. My results show 94.9 English and the remainder Greek. Maybe way back there's some Greek ancestry that I don't know about but I'm certainly don't have such a large percentage of English blood. What a waste of money.
We had our tests done this spring - his came out very strange. His mother's mother came directly from Ireland...that family is back generations in Ireland. however, his results came back with absolutely no Ireland, or any of the British Isles. In response, we did a 23 & Me test, and the results came back 37% ireland. That's a pretty big error factor. Now we are going to do an Ancestry test - sort of an 2 out of 3 tie-breaker. I think we should get a refund for his test!!
dealing with the formating problems in Source citation.
The thread is 4 days old and still has the status New.
Line feeds are ignored etc. The result is a continous, unformatted text.
This problem may not occur in every Source citation, but in many. The problem may also occur in writing forum posts.
Addendum: I see this also the case in this post!
It does not only occur on my computer or my account, but also at other computers and accounts.

I tried this on a win 7 computer, with newest Chrome-browser and Firefox 37 and a win10 computer with Chrome 68 and Firefox 52 and IE 11. Nothing works!
Bit of a puzzle regarding my DNA results and MyHeritage’s ethnic estimates. Unless there was some funny business that I’m unaware of I have a traceable heritage of 100% Italian mother and 50% French Canadian and P Swedish father.Yet my DNA results are saying I’m 54% Central American. 54% is a LOT! Doesn’t that mean one of my parents is Central American? Could the system confuse Central American for Italian?Both Latin based. Thoughts?
My results are wrong. It showed Baltic DNA but Familly Tree DNA shows 90% relatives (600-700 people) from Sweden and Finland and 10 of them are 2nd-5th cousins. (My Heritage found most of my relatives from Scandinavia too), i found only 3-4 guys from Baltic countries but they're extremely distant. Then I asked these 2-5 cousins and about 30 distant and they all said that they have only Swedish and Finnish blood.My Heritage also indicated some relatives with 99-100% Scandinavian blood and somehow we share DNA. This is really wierd because "My Heritage doesn't think that i have Scandinavian"Then i uploaded my results to Gedmatch and eventually i see only 20% Eastern Europe when My Heritage 70% (i look very Scandinavian as people say). Gedmatch showed 21% North Sea, 20% Baltic sea (i think it's also Sweden and Finland) and 10% Atlantic (i think it can reffer to Norway, Sweden and UK) DNA. How can i understand that? I really do love this company, i like how it shows results but the system has some problems. I've been waiting for ethnicity estimate update and hope that i'll see my real Scandinavian ethnicity...
Myheritage stated on blog back in January, 2018 that they would be doing an update to the ethnicity estimates. Since it's going on 8 months since that blog, and still no update, any ideas if/when we can expect it? Thank you.
I POSTED THE DNA KIT MORE THAN A YEAR AGO AND NEVER RECEIVED ANY NEWS. TRIED MANY TIMES TO GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU WHICH WAS CLOSE TO IMPOSSIBLE AND FINALLY FOUND THIS NOW, SO WHERE ARE MY RESULTS??????? IS THIS JUST A SCAM???
I have a free account with MyHeritage and its been working well for my big family. However, when I tried to print my chart through the website, it becomes over 13 feet long. It seems to have a lot of wasted space. Also, the title comes out really small and the wrong font.
Is there anyway to change the actual layout of the tree, like move a family member over?
Please help, I've spent a lot of time making the tree and I would really love to print it.
I tested with Ancestry... and got some fairly accurate results based on my family's history that I've known. They even gave me the region where my parents and grandparents grew up in Mexico. I'm Mexican-American.
I've upoaded my raw data to My Origins and got fairly the same results especially my Native American both of these companies have it at around 43-45%.
I've done GedMatch and again 40-43% Native and everything else fairly accurate. WHat surprised me the most from doing my first exam with Ancestry is having a good amount of British Ancestry, again My Origins and GeDMatch pick this up too 18-25%.
My heritage has my European percentage as only 10% all coming from the Ukraine, Poland, Russia region, African as 19% and Native American as 70% well, central American and native as .9%. It gave me no British ancestry. AND NO IBERIAN!! I"m Mexican-American my parents are considered Mestizo (Mixed w/ Native and Spanish). All other companies pick up on my Iberian Ancestry... 18-28%. I know I have Spanish in me but according to my Heritage, I have NONE!
Just had a salesperson from this company call. Worst Sales call ever. Only had could offer US dollar prices. Way too high price I told him. He tells me I do not appreciate what they offer. Just be ready to give price- call from Canada would be better. I do but why should I do smart matches to make them look good when I cannot add to my tree- limit size. Give a discount based on how many new customers we attract. My tree size is over 5,000 covering eastern Canada. The larger my tree the more potential customers they will have. So salesperson goes to the largest pkg. First when calling Canada offer cdn prices. do i pay in rubles or dinars. Why USA dollars Better to start with as many different branches as separate trees using one base person or main branch people using different e-mail addresses. Tree limit is defeating. Cannot open anything without upgrading. No library grade. Why do matching when we cannot add it to tree. And no verification on data. Worst he hung up on me.

I have been a premium plus member of My Heritage for a number of years and have built up a good family tree.
i was promised lifetime membership at a reduced rate but when i went to open record matches and smart matches was told I needed to increase my package to include data if I wanted to read what had been sent to me.
I can no longer afford to be a part of the program. When I cancelled my membership I was assured that all of the information I had ammassed was available to me. Other members of my extended family have added names to the tree and this has apparrently put me over my allowed limit.
As a consequence when I export a gedcom to my tree builder the photos are all inaccessible,
I have been able to make family books for all of my family and it has brought great joy. Now I want to print one for my brother for his 70th birthday but cant get all of my information
I have attempted to contact the support team by phone but was hung up on because I am not a paid up member
I did attempt to upgrade to the basic so that I could get my information but program was incosistent in pricing from offer to checkout. There are live people at My heritage because I have received two emails asking if I still want to take up a membership
BUT I HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE FROM THE SUPPORT TEAM AFTER 3 EMAILS
What is my next step? It is my brothers birthday in two weeks.
My existing account with My Heritage is to expire this time next week and I shall not be renewing.
Let me firstly congratulate My Heritage for their impressive software that seems to get most things right and that produces a good report when you want to print. However, they display a certain arrogance on the phone, and of course their reponse times to queries is simply abysmal.
In the lead up to next week's renewal, I was offered the usual 20% discount if a did in fact renew in a specific time period. I rang to say that I believed that I deserved more than 20%, soley based on the fact that I had over the years pointed out errors in dating to others in My Heritage, which I backed up with my research notes which I obtained after visiting various genealogy estabishments here in Australia and the UK. Some people following the same paths as myself had data in their personal trees, such as mothers being younger than their daughters, marriages at 4 years old, and of course men becoming parents at the ripe old age of 89. These issues have been corrected with my data and the members in question have been thankful for the corrections.
I pointed out to My Heritage that I and people like me do 'value add' their site and I believe that such 'value adding' deserved a greater discount. I asked for 30% and was knocked back. 2 weeks ago I received an email (as did many others) from My Heritage to state that our personal data had been hacked, and that 92 million members were affected by this action. Now if you say on average that each of these members paid US$100 per annum, then that is a whopping US$9.2 billion going into their coffers each year. The return for us, apart from the use of their impressive software is virtually zero with poor response times to queries and requests. I personally do not think that a request for a 30 or a 25% discount for loyalty and assisting others is unreasonable. Their PR skills are poor. Maybe they see losing me as a drop in the ocean, but it is still a loss of 70% of something, but it is now 100% of nothing. This does not make any business sense.
Personally I do not believe that they read any of these complaints, so this forum piece is just a waste of time. But at least I have got it off my chest.
I already knew my backgroud from family members research over the last 10yrs and this was is no way a true result. Like the rest of those on this forum, this was a waste of time and money. DO NOT USE THIS OUTFIT for your DNA research.
My family on my father's side is from Ghana. Yet my results say that it's Nigerian. We have no known Nigerian relatives nor descent.
What's more if that the genetics of West Africa are as diverse as Europe, with differences between various ethnic groups. Nigeria and Ghana have numerous ethnicities within them, and it's no use to aggregate them. It's like, if using a European example, English, Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish all have different DNA types.
It's clear that the test is inaccurate, since Nigeria has been used as a lump/catch-all.
I manage three Kits including my own. When I now go to DNA>Manage DNA Kits the three appear but when I click on the symbol to the right of the Kits and then View My Matches MY results appear! (I was wondering, over the past few months, why I have not been receiving any notifications of any new matches and now I know).
The Kits affected are FT-FAE7D3 uploaded on Oct 1 2017 amd FT-D83623 uploaded on Oct 11 2017. As neither are no longer assigned to me I have re-assigned the first but that has not made any difference.
Would MyHeritage please make the relevant corrections.
Be very wary of this organization. They put additional charges on your credit card with out approval. So far in the last 2 weeks I have had $380.57 AUD in charges from this company. The full package is $215, which I signed up for , but since then an additional $171.59 has been deducted. Requests for answers have gone ignored. Overall this seems to be a fraudulent organization.
I am a healthcare professional and had my DNA analysis done by MyHeritage. Through this thread, I have found out how misinformed a few people are about the services that this company offers.
The service that MyHeritage provides is merely genetic testing. The way they analyse the samples you submit is by checking on parts of your DNA that match certain population pools. In short, they merely determine the probabilty that your genes have the same sequence as other people from other ethnicities. Proper genealogy takes a look at things beyond genetic analysis.
THEY DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR FAMILY TREE, TRACE YOUR ROOTS THROUGH YOUR LINEAGE HISTORY, AND DETERMINE WHO YOU ARE.
I thought of sharing my two cents because it wasn't fair to anyone to vent their "disappointment" that they were provided "inaccurate results" on the basis of results of DNA loci testing. Before spending your hard earned cash on a service such as this, read about it. You'll be glad you did.
I ran my raw DNA obtained via Ancestry with whom I first tested 4 months ago through My Heritage and the results are shockingly INACCURATE. I have a good paper trail so excepting for my Jewish heritage and that is why I tried Heritage. I had planned to buy a kit to test our mom. Really glad I didn't. My Heritage has me at 68% Scandinavian and small percentages of Irish. Scottish, Welsh and English. I actually have a great deal of British and Celtic ancestry, and known German ancestry, as well as Jewish ancestry. MH matched me with a cousin with a very Scandinavian surname and his DNA column read like mine should have shown up as it does on Ancestry and in Gedmatch calculators, even showing Jewish DNA. Very disappointed and I wonder if there is some issue with analyzing raw DNA that has originally been tested with another company. Anyway, don't think I'll waste any more time and certainly no money. Again, very disappointed as I did want to find out about our Jewish ancestry as I have an extremely limited paper trail.
I admin 4 kits . I tested on FTDNA. I like the My Heritage site and opted to upload the raw dna data to it. I was on it for a couple of months and enjoyed it until I got a perfect match for myself. an identical twin. Thinking I had been hacked I deleted all the kits. I found out what had happened and discovered My Heritage was not at fault so I uploaded the kits again. However none of the matches were the same the second time round. My matches were actually my 2nd Cousins. and so were one of the other kits.This leads me to believe that my data was not deleted at all and some algorithim decided to pair my two of my kits with another kit that I manage. This was missleading and wrong. I have been working on my family tree and need to upgrade to load it onto the site. This I would like to do but what guarantee have I of the same thing not happening again. Recently I uploaded my own raw data and was again matched wrongly. HELP
