Remembering, we had a grand time at the 100th reunion in 2013. We welcomed and embraced familiar and newly met family. We shared conversations that bind us together. We connected some links and discovered others.
Now that we’ve entered 2014, we are excited about launching our second century with the 101st. The plan is to return to Jefferson, Texas, Labor Day weekend, August 29 - 31, 2014.
With that, the time is here….time for plans to start moving forward. Starting at the top and with our family leaders, the Men of the McIntosh Family, this letter comes to you.
You are asked to contribute $100.00. This amount from each of you will help with the family goal……. insuring all family members get the opportunity to attend. It is very important that you respond one way or the other so we can gain direction on how to move forward.
Please enter your name below. Check the line as to whether you will be able to contribute ornot. Please return your response to Pat McIntosh. The contact information** for Pat, including mailing address, phone number and e-mail is …
Your tombstone stands among the rest; Neglected and alone. The name and dates are chiseled out On polished, marbled stone. It reaches out to all who care It is too late to mourn. You did not know that I exist You died and I was born. Yet each of us are cells of you In flesh, in blood in bone. Our blood contracts and beats a pulse Entirely not our own. Dear Ancestor, the place you filled one hundred years ago Spreads out among the ones you left who would have loved you so. I wonder if you lived and loved, I wonder if you knew That someday I would find this spot, And come to visit you.

2013 marks the 100th year of family gatherings for the descendants of Josiah McIntosh, Sr.
In June 1913, Josiah McIntosh, Jr., known as Joe, caring for his 102 year old Father, Josiah McIntosh, Sr., conceived the idea of a "family gathering". Josiah Sr., being a former slave, had seen families destroyed, split up and denied the opportunity of being together. He constantly emphasized to Joe Jr., the importance of family knowing and supporting one another. This emphasis encouraged Joe Jr,. and his wife, Mattie Ruffin McIntosh to call his and her siblings, their families; 14 of their children (some grown-up) and their families to their home in Jefferson, Texas to share in a feast and fellowship. This feast and fellowship began a celebration that has continued for 100 years for the Joe Jr., clan and some of the clan of his siblings.
This year, 2013, the Joe Jr., clan, as our ancestors did that first gathering in 1913, is calling together as "one big family" all descendants of Josiah McIntosh, Sr.
Our family will commemorate the 100th celebration
