Announcements:The Steyn family emblem
Posted by: Lanie Taljaard on Mar 14 2014 00:50

The Steyn family emblem (with the three black birds) that we have been using on Geni thus far is actually the emblem of the Steyn family of the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands. We have been "borrowing" it. They are not at all connected to our progenitor.

This Steyn progenitor, Douwe Gerbrandt Steyn, comes from Friesland, nowadays one of the provinces of the Netherlands. Today I have registered a new Steyn family emblem with the Frisian Heraldic Association known as Fryske Rie Foar Heraldyk. They have approved the emblem which will be published in the 2014 yearbook of said association in November or December of 2014.

I give permission for the use of this emblem to any of the Steyn descendants of Douwe Gerbrandt Steyn. A document with the new emblem and a description of it has been added to this profile. Would appreciate it if you could keep me up to date with how you have used the emblem.
Chris Steyn

It frustrates me that people on My Heritage make some of the names private,I paid to be on the site and why make information private I will help where I can and still another thing I can not understand is that some people have so many stem books created with the same names in them, why not just one big one.Because of the the above 2 thing makes it make it difficult to make smart matches and then people want to moun it is not a smar match, if it is private I cant see so stop mouning and take of the stupid private setting, if you dont want to share your info plese leave my site and take of your setting dor sharing and matching or leave My Heritage Thank you
