My name is Joseph M Peterson Jr and I started this site.
I am seeking as much info as possible on the following family names:
1) Peterson - Originally settled in the Bergen County NJ & Brooklyn NY area after immigrating from Sweden. It is also believed that some of the Petersons may have migrated to the Philidelphia PA and possibly some to around the mid-west area or Minnesota/Michighan areas.
2) Bruggemann - Believed to have settled in the Bronx NY area with relatives before migrating to the Westchester & Dutchess County NY areas.
3) Feller & Pulver - These families are connected by marriage, and appear to have been early settlers in the upstate NY area, particularly in the Red Hook/Rhinebeck areas of Dutchess County NY. It is generally believed that they are a combination of Dutch/German heritage, & were part of the original Palentine settlers, but from some extensive searching to date, I have traced these two branches of my family back into the 1200's with very heavy Portuguese, Spanish, French heritages, along with Belgian, Italin & British as well. On this side of the family we had been under the impression that they were a long line of farmers & settlers, but it appears that many of them actually descend from Royalty.
Comments or feedback about this site, and more importantly, any information or input from anyone who knows any of these family lines or is related to them, PLEASE do not hesitate to contact me with the info.
Thanks for looking & good luck in your own searches as well.
