I would like to welcome family and friends to join us on a 7 Day Western Caribbean Cruise on the Carnival Splendor from March 22 – 29, 2015, sailing from Miami, FL to Cozumel, Mexico; Belize; Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan;Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; and returning to Miami, FL.

Mrs. Norma Jean Watkins was born on July 8, 1950 in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of Bert Wilson Taylor and Christine Miller Taylor. She departed this life suddenly on Monday, November 25, 2013 at her residence in Nashville, Tennessee.

Norma was educated in the Nashville Davidson County Schools. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was a Christian by faith.

Norma was employed as a Secretary in her early years and later as a LPN at Baptist Hospital. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, socializing, and meeting people. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Norma was preceded in death by Daughter, Tiffany Watkins; Father, Bert W Taylor Sr.; Mother, Christine Miller Taylor; Sisters, Susie Lee Taylor and Lila Gay Taylor; Brother, William Frederick Taylor.

Norma leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted Daughter, Katrina (Corey) Watkins­Smith, Houston, Texas; two Sisters, Lucile O’Neal and Bessie Watson; Three Brothers, Bert (Pearl) Jr., James, and George Taylor; Aunt, Janie Miller; Three Grandchildren, Karesha Crutchfield, Kennedra Lanee Lett, and Corey Smith Jr.; Four Great-grandchildren; Nieces, Desiree Taylor, Tonia Taylor, Adrienne Caldwell, and Sharonda (Carlton) Waller; Nephew, Vincent (Sharon) Taylor, Kulawnée (La’Von), Mario Taylor, and Christopher Thompson; Ex Sister-in-law, Willa Dean Langford; Close friends, LaShawn Edwards Covington and Shirley Tonya Gooch-Barnes, and Terrie Gooch; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Mariea Drayton was born on April 15, 1923 to the late Josh Sawyer and Frances Perkins in Nashville, Tennessee. She departed this earthly life on September 7, 2013.

Mariea was educated in the Public School of Nashville Davidson County. She obtained her CNT Certificate after graduation.

Mariea worked at Meharry Hospital. Her hobbies included reading her Bible, dancing, and traveling.

She is preceded in death by Brothers James Mizell Perkins and Mitchell Perkins; Sisters Mrs. Grace Leanears and Mrs. Mattie Haynes; two Sister-in-laws, two Brothers-in-law; Children Clarence Perkins, Thomas Perkins, and Lamont Adair.

Mariea is survived by devoted Granddaughter Elnora Webb; Devoted friend Mrs. Annie Porter; several Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews, Cousins, and relatives and friends.

Viewing is on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM in the Chapel. Visitation with the Family on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 11:00 AM to12 Noon, funeral to follow at the 15th Avenue Baptist Church, 1203 9th Avenue North. Pastor William F. Buchanan, Eulogist.

James Henry Watkins was born October 3, 1948 to Hattie Bryant Watkins and the late Raymond L. Watkins. He entered into rest on June 7, 2013 after a brief illness. God dispatched His Angels to bring him home.

James was a Pearl High School graduate of the class of 1966. He also attended Tennessee State University. He worked for many years at Triangle Truck Terminal before working in his favorite field as a carpenter. He was a loving kind patient hearted man that would do what he could to help others. His final gift was to the Tennessee Organ I Tissue Organization. He also tried to give children a sense of direction and gave of his time by coaching girls’ softball at Parkwood Park. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist for many years until becoming a member of the Original Church of God in 2002. He sung in the church choir and state choir.

James married Zona in April of 1979 and shared many happy moments. James loved spending time with his family and would often take the pictures of family gatherings. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, and golf.

James was preceded in death by his father, Raymond L. Watkins, Sr., and daughter, Tiffany F. Watkins. He is survived by his beloved wife, Zona Watkins; dearly loved daughter, Katrina Watkins-Smith of Houston, TX. Stepson, Doyle Smith Jr. Mother, Hattie Bryant Watkins.

Brothers, Raymond (Marilyn) Watkins of Richmond, VA, David (Sandra) Watkins; mother-in-law, Muzell Hester; brother-in-laws, William Hester Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL, Roderick (Twyla) Hester of Mariette, GA.

Grandchildren, Keresha Crutchfield, Kennedra Lett, Corey Smith, Shanice Smith, Cory Smith, and Sydney Powell. Grant-grandchildren, Dontez Cruthfield, C’Rryah Powell, Makayla Lett, Trell Lett, and John Davis.

Uncles, Rev. Willie Bryant of Vance, SC, William (Annie) Bryant of Cottondale, FL, William Clyde of New York, NY, Bertrand (Rochelle) Hester of Cleveland, OH. Aunt, Canzerlee Bryant of Vance, SC.

Devoted cousin, Roxie Venzen. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Loved like daughters and son, Debra Jemison, Therasia Carney and Vincent Pitts.

Public viewing Friday, June 14, 2013, from 1 pm to 6 pm, Smith Brothers Chapel. Family visitation Saturday, June 15, from 11 am to 12 Noon, funeral to follow, Greater Faith (Original Church of God Headquarters), 1803 County Hospital Road. ·Mr. Nathaniel (Red) O’Neal was born on April 14, 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late William O’Neal Sr. and Gladys O’Neal. He departed this life on August 21, 2012. He attended the Nashville Davidson County Public Schools, where he and his twin brother played basketball and also were lifeguards at Hadley Park.

·Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter; Cassandra Holt and Natalie Langford, one sister; Peggy Nesbitt, one brother Richard (Honza) O’Neal and a brother-in-law Robert Davis Sr.; one sister-in-law and devoted friend Lucille O’Neal. Grandchildren; Veronica Holt, Stephanie Holt, and Marquise Langford. Six great-grandchildren; Corey, Brandon, Austin Hoggett and Nevach, Robert and Jerome Knight. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Best friends Norma Watkins, William Witherspoon, Ms. Lula Waters, and Nephew Christopher Thompson.

  • The death angel has come into our family and taken our beloved Cynthia Jane Jackson Tate on Monday, May 15, 1995. She was born on April 12, 1920 to the late Perry and Leyer Jackson. She received her education in Giles County Public Schools.
  • At an early age she accepted Christ at New Hope Baptist Church in South Nashville and later united with Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor H. M. Stockard.
  • She was joined in Holy Matrimony on July 15, 1972 to Ray Tate, Sr.
  • She was a faithful member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church and served diligently as the Vice President of the Mother’s Board, Chaplain of Armintha Givens Missionary Society, Adviser of the Kid’s Choir, a member of the Alice Alderson Bible Class of the Sunday School and a former member of the Senior Choir, she was also the Chaplain of the Bible and Community Fellowship organization and a member of the Nashville City Association Mother’s Union.
  • She worked for Mrs. Norene Moyers as a nurse for seventeen years.

  • Raymond attended West End High School and Tennessee State University. He was an employee of the Fayetteville Electric System for sixteen years. He was a devoted father and husband and he loved his children and grandchildren.
  • He lived a long and productive life and has the following family members who preceded him in death: Charlie Tate, father and Annie B. Stone Tate, mother; Charles (JoAnn) Tate and John Davis (Liz) Tate, brothers.

  • Mr. Odie Tate, Sr. the son of the late Samuel and Emma Porter Tate was born in Winchester, Tennessee June 14, 1908.
  • After moving to Indianapolis, Indiana on February 10, 1942 he attended Caldwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Under the pastorate of Rev. Lewis M. Durden he professed a hope in Christ and was baptized into the A.M.E Zion Church and attended until his health began to fail.
  • Mr. Tate was formerly employed by International Harvester for twenty-seven years as a laborer, retiring in the year of 1969.
  • On February 24, 1982 he departed this life at Winona Hospital. Those left to cherish his memory are: three sons, Odie, Jr., George Thomas, and Clifford L. Tate; three daughters, Wilma Jean Tate, Helen Butler and Geraldine Thomas; one brother, Clifford Tate; one sister, Alease Clark; ten precious grandchildren; two grate grandsons, other relatives and adoring friends.
