June Craft wed Israel commented on person Irvin Augustus Henry Doub wed 1st cousin :
No personal memories, but in the 1860 US census, Irvin's widowed grandmother, Susannah [Helsabeck] Doub, then age 72, was listed as living in the Pfafftown area of Forsyth County, NC, USA, with her son Daniel Doub, and Daniel's three boys were listed. Irvin was listed as Augustus H., I think, but in 1960 census, he was also listed on the farm of Thomas and Elizabeth Long as Erwin, no surname given, following the listing of Louisa J. Long, youngest daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth. Irvin's grandmother Susanna [Helsabeck] Doub died in 1865, and Daniel Doub shortly thereafter wed Teresa Craft and they had a son, Boyd Vachel Doub.

In the 1860 census, Rev. David Wesley Doub and family were also listed as living in Pfafftown on the next farm to his mother and his brother Daniel Doub & family. His grandmother was also mother of Elizabeth {Doub] Long, the aunt who nurtured him following the death of his mother shortly after his birth in 1856, and both Daniel and David Doub were the brothers of Elizabeth [Doub] Long.

The Craft and Doub families were very entwined. The wife and first cousin of Irvin was Harmenia BELLE Doub, whose younger sister, Lillie Doub, wed James C. Craft, oldest nephew of Teresa Craft, who wed Daniel Doub. Both Harmenia and Lillie Doub grew up on the farm of their father, John Fletcher Doub, and thus, across the creek, were near neighbours of Thomas and Elizabeth Long.
