This collection is comprised of three types of records: biographical book excerpts, obituaries and newspaper clippings. Commencing around 1870, and after more than a century of work, over 1,500 publications were indexed by the Wisconsin Historical Society librarians in order to form this collection of records from the local written media about Wisconsin residents. Records typically contain the individual’s name, record type, year of birth, year of death, date and place of publication, the source of information, the name of the author, volume number, and page number.<br><br>Wisconsin Biographical Name Index 2
