The first Presbyterian Church opened in East Greenmount in 1886 with the Rev. Kerr in charge. These Ministers travelled from Allora in horse and sulky. The first couple married in the new Church in 1888 were William Bellingham and Sarah Burton.Sarah Burton was one of eleven children of Joseph Burton who had brought the Chronicle's first printing press to Toowoomba in the 1880's. A fortnight's journey by bullock dray from Brisbane.

William and Sarah were married in the presence of Edward Samuel Bellingham and Mary Burton. William's parents are shown as Richard Bellingham and Lydia Elizabeth Luck on their marriage registration. William's profession was listed as a farmer, no occupation for Sarah.
