PONTIAC — Elsie Marie Onken, 67, of Pontiac, died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Tjardes Health Care Center in Pontiac.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac with the Rev. David Sable of St. Mary's Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials in Marie's name may be left to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Marie was born May 9, 1942, in Ottawa, a daughter of Frank and Mildred (Dagget) Alberry. She married Gary Onken Aug. 16, 1975, in Pontiac. He survives in Pontiac.
Also surviving are two sons, David (Mary Lou) Hertzner of Spring Valley and Albert (Robin) Hertzner of Marseilles; five daughters, Donna (Patrick) Bayer of Ottawa, Karen (Frank) Lucio of Indiana, Debbie (Julio Mora) Lopez of La Salle and Christie (Jose Pina) Onken and Jaymi (Bryan) Grabow, both of Pontiac; 24 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and one brother and one sister.
Marie was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Lee Hertzner, a granddaughter, two brothers and a sister.
Marie was educated in Ottawa schools, had been employed at Pontiac Chair Factory and was a driver for Bee Express. Marie was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Pontiac. She loved playing euchre and bingo was a member of the Monday Night Euchre League in Pontiac.
