Les was born on the 10th of July, 1911 at Cattle Gully and started school at Cattle Gully in 1917 at the age of 6 and finished in 1925 at Woodleighton State School at the age of 14. He left school and started his first job on a farm in the Woodleighton district. Les left the district in the 1930's and moved to Jandowae where he worked for many farmers in the area. later he worked in the Hotels in Jandowae where he made many friends and enjoyed going to dances and on bus trips. He also enjoyed going to the TAB for the odd punt on the horses.
Les spent a number of years in the retirement village at Jandowae where he was one of the first tenants to take up residence. He enjoyed living there as it was handy to the main street for him, which allowed him to walk to and from town.
Although Les never married he enjoyed a full and happy life.
