Lovisa ( known as Louisa in Australia ) left Ystad , the southern most town in Sweden, at the age of 25 Her father was a miller and her brother had a bread and cake shop , She worked for her brother for food and clothing with no hope of doing betteer she caught a ferry to Germany . She emigrated to Australia on the sailing ship LAMMERSHAGEN from Hamberg on the 10 May 1871 arriving in Rockhampton on 17 September 1871 .
Christina said she wasa related to Swedish Royalty.he Swedish Emigrant Institute in Queensland confirmed that the Barnekow's were indeed of " nobilty " . Swedish Royalty records go back to Carl 1 den store ( King of Frankfurt ) 7420- 814 on one side and Gustav 1 Vasa ( King of Sweden ) and on the other side . The Barnekows enter the tree with Christian Barnekow 1694 -1762 who married Eva Charlotta Victoria Stenbock 1710-1785 .so perhaps Christina was correct !
She worked as a domestic at the Rockhampton hospital and married Magnus Peterson , who also emigrated from Sweden to Australia ,at Rockhampton on 24 April 1872 . They had two children in Rockhampton Sophia Beata Juliana in 1872 and Christina Francisca Wilhelmina in 1875. They then moved to Cairns in 1875 taking their two young daughters with them on horseback.. Three more children were born there - Petra Karri Fredrika (known as Patra)in 1880, Adolph William Magnus in 1882 and on 24 Sept 1884, she was alone on her way to the well to draw water when she gave birth to her youngest daughter, Sigred henrietta Ellen .
She died of " Spanish flu " in Cairns hospital and was buried in the same grave as her husband ,Magnus in the Martyn Street Cemetry on 25 September 1921. I visited the grave site and there are no head stones for this grave .
Louisa arrive at Kepple Bay on ship Lammershagen . on 7th September 1871 age 25
