SANFORD - Eunice Kelly Measamer Johnson, 89, died Wednesday (3/15/06) at the Heritage Hospital in Tarboro. She had been a resident of the Fountains at the Albemarle in Tarboro for the last two years.
She was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin Kelly and Omie Whittie Howard Kelly. She was known for her delicious cakes, pies, cookies and homemade rolls. She enjoyed cooking and sharing her homemade treats with family and friends. Her generous hospitality always kept people coming back. She could often be found in her garden nurturing a wide variety of fruits and vegetables or working in her yard. For many years, she worked as a nurse's aide being a caregiver for many elderly and disabled citizens of Lee County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Wiley Johnson, in 1974 and siblings Gattis Franklin Kelly, Shelton Barrett Kelly, Edna Kelly Thomas, Bertha Kelly Thomas, Thomas Britton Kelly, and Watson Perry Kelly.
She is survived by sons Bob Measamer and wife Linda of Fayetteville and Frank Measamer and wife Ann of Robersonville; brothers Otis Allen Kelly and Howard Cyrus Kelly and a sister, Grace Kelly Wicker; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved her.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Kelly Family Cemetery at Shallow Well Church on Broadway Road.Arrangements are by Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home in Sanford.
