Biography

Benjamin was a Private in Company D, Arkansas 10th Regiment, Infantry, He was a scout (spy). It was said that he lied about his age, to get into the millitary. He is listed as "James B. Chism", in military records.

He was also a coal miner and had a secret silver mine, in Marshall, Arkansas. The mine was located behind a waterfall, according to his daughter-Mary "Swecia" Chism.
