Savannah, MO - Elizabeth "Betty" Carter, 77, Savannah, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, surrounded by her family.
She had lived at Carriage Square Health Care Center, where she received compassionate and loving care.
Elizabeth was born Dec. 9, 1926, at Providence, R.I., to Michael Joseph and Mary Ann (Doughtery) O'Brien.
Elizabeth worked for 30 years for Mattinglys Brothers Store in Brunswick, Marceline and Cameron, Mo., retiring as manager in 1982.
Elizabeth married Joseph Carter, Sept. 15, 1945, at Providence, R.I.; and he preceded in death April 12, 1995.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Savannah, Mo.
Survivors: daughter, Kathy Funk, and husband, Hal, Springfield, Mo.; son, Kenny Carter, and wife, Debbie, St. Joseph, Mo.; granddaughter, Corrine Carter, Overland Park, Kan.; nieces and their husbands, Donna and Greg Lunnon, Oak Grove, Mo.; Linda and Keith Rosewaren, Independence, Mo, Virginia Lea and Brian Fatting, St. Joseph; nephews, Kevin Rock Mayes, and wife, Jan, Smithville, Mo.; Paul Ray Clark, Osyka, Miss.; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Clark, Agency, Mo.
Also preceding in death were her parents; brother , Joseph Michael O'Brien; sisters, Nancy Vincent, Rita Gorton, Eileen Clark and Joan Blankenship; and a niece, Betty Marie PulliamCelebration of Life service: 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at Gladden-Stamey Chapel, with Rev. Richard Lionberger officiating. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery, Osborn, Mo. Visitation: after 0 a.m. Friday, when the family will receive friends 12 to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Baptist Church, Savannah, Mo., Building Fund.
