Biography

Mrs. Berriman, of Beryl-street, has received news of the death of her son Arnold, who was killed in the recent earthquake in San Francisco. The deceased, who was 32 years of age, was engaged at the National Bank, Broken Hill, and left for America seven years ago.

The intimation of his death was conveyed in. a letter from San Francisco. The writer, a friend of the deceased, stated that they travelled together from Texas City, and put up at the Valencia Hotel on the morning of April l8. He had risen early, and the deceased was in bed when the earthquake óccurred.

The building rocked like a ship in a stormy sea, and then collapsed, and the unfortunate young man was buried beneath the crumbled walls."
