Bob Bowie was recruited by Eastman Kodak while a graduate student at MIT in 1938. He accepted a position with the firm one term short of completing his Master's degree, and never returned to Boston to complete his degree. Following his serivce in the Army Air Corps in World War II, Bob took a number of graduate engineering courses by correspondance. For many years, he served as an advisor on student recruitment for MIT in the Western New York area, interviewing prospective students and offering recommendations as to whether they were good prospects for MIT..

 

 

Bob and Charlotte were married in September 1938, and moved to Rochester following their wedding.

Bob was an Eagle Scout in his youth, and became a Scout master for the troop at Immanuel Baptist Church in Rochester. He served Immanuel Baptist as a Deacon and as chairman of the board of trustees. Following his serivc e in the Army Air Corps in World War II, Bob returned to Rochester, where he was Assistant Vice President of the Graflex Corporation. He served with Graflex for 3 years, returning to Eastman Kodak in 1949.
