ROBERT Saastamoinen I am not aware of your question about the Eskridge Family. The sources that I reviewed to try to clarify the mistakes of dates and people was the records in State of Virginia as he was a member of the House of Burgess. Also a writer of the Documents of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The best sourse for the Eskridge Family History that has been worked by family members ,When this source is noted you can be sure the information has been scrutinized.Note the sources to be used in this type of research is first Birth and death records of Great Britain Baptismal Records the Family Bible and the least one to use is one that a large number of people use is " what I have been told "or has a super ego that I am related to this particular person. Then those that see this information write it as gospel.
Note with reference to the child Mary this sometimes can be explained that in the 16th thru the 19th century ,if a child dies as an infant and her name is Mary the next girl that is born is Mary Elizabeth and the next Mary and another middle name this is in remembrance of those that did not have the opportunity to grow to Adulthood. This also gives the family a feeling of closure. The time you are making reference many new borns died of illnesses contact on the ships and plagues. An opportuity to view this is in Williamson Burg when you try to find the records in the Church does not exist but they are buried in the family home behind the house in well weather worn headstones that are not fully readable.Westmoreland Borough for one where the Eskridges lived..
