What if I have a family history of one of the conditions covered by the Health reports?

Updated over 5 months ago

Customers who purchase the MyHeritage DNA Health test and the Health upgrade for the MyHeritage DNA test are required to complete a questionnaire about their personal and family health history. Having a personal or family history of a certain medical condition, indicated in the questionnaire, can have a significant impact on genetic risk for that condition.

As the MyHeritage DNA Health test (and the Health upgrade for the MyHeritage DNA test) analyzes only some of the variants for a condition, having a personal or family health history of that condition warrants more thorough testing.

Therefore, reports for certain types of cancer (e.g. hereditary BRCA cancer), neurological conditions, and carrier status for specific conditions may be excluded from your health reports based on your personal or family health history, as you indicated in your Health Questionnaire. In such cases where reports are excluded, we recommend that you consult with a genetic counselor or your healthcare provider to discuss the most appropriate testing.
