How can I download the shared DNA segments data from the Chromosome Browser?

Updated over 5 months ago

To download the shared DNA information between all the DNA matches selected on the Chromosome Browser, please do as follows:

1. Scroll down to the bottom of the One-to-Many Chromosome Browser, below the visual display of the chromosomes, to find information on the shared DNA segments.

2. Click on “Advanced options” on the right, then on “Download shared DNA info”:

A CSV file will be downloaded which will list first all of the triangulated segments, if those exist, meaning segments that all of the selected DNA Matches are sharing with one another, followed by the list of shared segments between the root person and each one of the selected DNA Matches. Exporting the list of matches is useful for reviewing the list of matches manually, for example on a spreadsheet, or importing it to other tools such as DNA Painter.

Note: Other users cannot download your raw DNA data. However, if another user has a shared segment with you, he or she can view its details (position and size). When reviewing that segment’s information on his or her own DNA, he or she can deduce the genotypes that you have in your DNA in that particular segment. If you prefer to prevent other users who share their DNA segments from viewing the details of shared segments, you can opt out of this feature.
