Hello!I want to find relatives who have emigrated to the United States. My mother have aunts and uncles who have lived in different States. We have had good contact with them, but now they're dead. It is unfortunately so, that I should have asked them more details about family, but now it's too late. One of the aunts, Ronnaug Gutormsen Dahl, lived in Minneapolis for many years. She was married to Mathias Dahl. They had no children. Their house was located in Hennepin County, Minneapolis. She writes in a letter about a cousin named Signe, who is the daughter of Simen Tarud. He was born in 1853.A brother of him is Amund Waalen, born 1865, married to Mari Waalen born in 1875. They lived in Dunn County, Wisconsin. They are all born in Østre Gausdal in Norway. Children of Mari andAmund, surely also have children. It should be fun to know if there is anyone out there who are familiar with these families. Christine Olsdatter is a sister of Simen and Amund. She was born in 1856. I have a picture of her taken in Menomoni, Wisconsin. John Waalen is also a brother. He was born in 1867. That's all I know. Maybe it is someone who knows someone who knows ...Greetings fromLillian Anita Østby Sarpsborg Norway
Hello. I live in Wisconsin and thought I could give you some assistance in looking for family roots here. One great online resource for finding data on Wisconsin residents is the Wisconsin Historical Society Genealogy website. http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/genealogy/
This site has some nice indexes and you can search by last name or county. Going to the local GenWeb sites are also a good idea - they are also divided up by counties. (Google search: Genweb Dunn County Wisconsin) Also finding the local library website is good because sometimes they have links to online information or the phone number to call!
