Is anyone researching the Tilsons who were living in Cotmanhay in the 1840s and 1850s?
My research is available at www.ennever.com but I am stuck with this family so any information may be helpful!
My name is Colin Robert Tilson 47 Seabury Foxton Beach 4815 New Zealand.I am trying to find how when our Richard Tilson arrived in New Zealand. Some information I have is that he was born 12th July 1841 Westmeath Ireland.,but carnt prove that. His Father Richard Tilson ,Mother Alice Tilson [nee Taylor]--but carnt prove this either.Have tried lots of sites but nothing confirmed,so I am trying anyone anywhere.
I recentely bought a death cert for Fanny Tislon who I believe to be his sister.
It said that she had beeb born Westmeath Ireland b 144-1915 and arrived in NZ in 1863. Her husband Christopher Somerville was witness at Richards marriage to Christina in NZ. I have not been able to find out who she came to NZ with and if her parents came but I dont think so.
Hope this helps. Do you have any photos etc - I have some of FannyTilsons children anddown that line of the family tree if you are interested.
I have just seen your posts regarding Fanny Tilson married to Christopher Somerville. I am a descendent of Richard Tilson, so I am fairly sure we are on the same person. I do remember my father - Robert Tilson (known as Bob) visiting elderly Spinster Aunts by the name of Somerville in Wellington when I was young. Are you still in Dunedin? We are visiting there in early November this year. Would be great if we could meet.
We are most definately related then as the two spinster aunts were Daisy and Polly (Mary Jane) Somerville who lived in Wellington in Taranaki St. Their sister Lily is my great grandmother (her son Osborne was my grandfather).
Yes I am in Dunedin and would love to see you. Its great to have found someone who is related..finally!
