Hello.

My Grandfather was William Ernest Link he was born Born August 13, 1911 died December 2, 1989. He was born in Keswick Ontario.

His parents were:

Henry James Link Born August 2, 1868 died September 1933
Clarinda Link (Sedore) Born May 21, 1874 died September 27, 1939
Unsure of when they were married.
I am finding that researching the surname Link is difficult as search engines want to provide you will "links" to similar info or specific words.
Does anyone happen to have any info? Maybe your researching this awesome family too? I dont want your hard work just a lead.
Thanks so much
Kim

I know your post is 7 years old, but it bumped up when other people recently replied.

There is a findagrave site for James Henry LINK and his wife Clarenda SEDORE and their son Ralph:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=113558187

According to notes on that page James Henry LINK was also born in Keswick, ON and his parents were George LINK and Elizabeth SHUTTLEWORTH.

There's an ON death record for James LINK, d. 25-Sept-1933 in N. Willinbury, York, ON, son of George LINK, b. ON, and Eliza SHUTTLEWORTH, b. England:              https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JKXK-PK4

I may have found a marriage record for them:

James LENK, age 20, b. Canada to Claranda SEDOUR, age 18, b. Canada, on 4-Feb-1892 in Port Huron, St. Clair, MI.  Groom's parents were George LENK and Elizabeth "WETTLEWORTH"  Bride's parents were Andrew SEDOUR and Mary THOMPSON.  I think WETTLEWORTH is mistranscribed.  Witnesses were George E. LENK and Mrs Celia? LENK.

There are ON birth records for the following children of James Henry LINK and Clarinda SEDORE:

George Henry LINK b. 4-Aug-1900 in N. Gwillimbury, York, ON

Eliza Maria LINK b. 11-Nov-1908, same location

Carl LINK b. 15-July-1912, same location

Hi,

I'm from the U.K. and my mum's maiden name was Link. Her father hailed from Herefordshire. I can't help with your particular relative, but wanted to know if your family can be traced to the u.k. and maybe  Herefordshire. My 3 times g. grandfather was a carpenter, as was his sons, and owned land in Kings Caple and Fownhope.

Best regards, Cherry.

My wife's maiden name is LINK, and by coincidece her father is a 4th cousin to Cherry Williams.

I agree that researching the surname LINK is a bit awkward because of its modern use as an abbreviation for hyperlink between web pages. However, it's not *that* bad. I've been able to identify LINK relatives in the UK, South Africa, Australia and the USA. In general, uncommon names are much easier to trace than common ones (although difficult-to-spell eastern European names are nearly as bad). I would much rather search for LINk than a common name, like Johnson or Smith.

For what it's worth, the website http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl has the following birth record:

Births Sep 1868   (>99%)
LINK Henry  Worcester 6c

279

These records use dates that are rounded to the nearest calendar quarter (rather than a specific date or even a single month). Thus, this person named Henry Link was born between July 1 and Sep 30, 1868 and hence could be your great-grandfather.

Regards,

Mart.
