Found your old post when looking for aother lowden info. The names you mention haven't appeared in my family tree, which seems to concentrate around the Durham area in the early 1800s. It is said that origionally the Lowdens came from Ayreshire , but haven't established when. The earliest record we have is a John Lowden of Wrenthorpe aound 1600.
My email is firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to explore further.
Lovely to here from you . Get very little information re Lowden.

Hope to hear from you again. There is or was a Lowden Hall in Ayreshire now used as a conferance center I think.
Have got back to 1745 they were then living at Auchenhay Farm renting it then bought Miekle Culmain & Burnside Farms, they went bancrupt circa 1810 ( new I was coming along).
William was a student of Divinity circa 1780 Cannot find him in the Fasti or whatever it is called , he is not in any University register that I have contacted, told it was because he must not have finnished his course.
All spelling's of Lowden , Louden Loudon Loudoun are related, so was told.
One of mine went to USA circa 188o thi nk he absconded with another lady cannot work it out yet.
It was great to get the message from you. So far in my research I have only made contact with the Lowdens resident in NZ.
I ahve visited Loudon Castle in Ayreshire a couple of years ago. It was burnt down in WW2 but the stables are being used as a theme park. So far as I can trace our branch emigrated to NZ in 1875 from Durham. My great grandfather was Daniel Clapham Lowden and I have discovered recently that his middle name comes from Clifford Clapham who was a MP and married a Mary Lowden in 1637.
