I recently received new information from the County Cork Library concerning James Hurley & Mary Brennan.
James and Mary lived in the diocese of Cork and Ross and were married February 7, 1837 in the Catholic Church at Dunmanway. Children: Ellen Hurley was baptized in Enniskeane in 1840; John Hurley was baptized in Enniskeane in1842; and Dennis baptized in Enniskeane in 1846. James & Mary and children immigrated Canada in the 1850s and settled in Ontario.
It appears that Dennis Hurley Sr. born in Cork & Ross in 1797 and immigrated Canada in 1830 with wife Catherine Hourahan and daughter Mary Hurley, was a brother of James Hurley; and Cornelius Hurley and wife Mary who immigrated Canada is also a brother to James and Dennis; and John Hurley who married Mary McGill and immigrated Canada is also a brother to James, Dennis and Cornelius Hurley. John Hurley Sr. and Mary Crowley of Cork and Ross Diocese were the parents of John Hurley who married Mary McGill and who therefore would also appear to be the parents of James Hurley, Dennis Hurley and Cornelius Hurley who all came to Canada during the 1800s.
I would very much appreciate a response from anyone who may have information on these Hurley families of Cork and Ross diocese to confirm that they are all one connected family and to provide any further information concerning them.
I was informed by the County Cork Library that the Churches only began to keep vital records on individuals from about 1815.
