I am writing in regards to my Grandmother's Great Grandfather, Patrick John Holland possibly born in County Mayo, Ireland in approximately 1812-1822, who was the son of Richard and Bridget Holland (nee Caffrey or Caffney?).
He immigrated to Canada about 1841-1846 and settled in March Township, Carleton County, Ontario, Canada and first married Bridget Connors and then married Winifred "Winnie" Muldoon after the death of Bridget in 1852.
Patrick had a large family that included the children John, Patrick (Patt), Thomas, Margret, Mary, Anna, Jane, Michael, James, Richard, Katherine (Kate), Bridget and Joseph. Some of the family has remained in Carleton County and Ontario.
Patrick and Winifred moved with a few of the younger children to St Boniface, Manitoba in the early 1800's and it is believed that Patrick died a few short years later.
Does anyone have more information on this family? Any details on Richard and Bridget Holland from Mayo, Ireland would be appreciated. As would any details of what became of the Hollands who moved to Manitoba.
I am searching for info on my gr gr grandmother Sarah Holland. Sarah was sent to Ausatralia on the "Garland Grove" on Jan 20th 1843. Her records show that her father was James Holland, her brothers were John & Matthew. There is no mention of a mother. She seems to have been born near St Andrews, England 1816-1818. Sarah gave birth to a son William in the Female House of Correction in Tasmania in 1846. Can anyone please help with further information.
