I am searching for the parents of Michael J Gowen who was born in February 1859 in Rye, Westchester, New York. He died on 18 Apr 1916 in the Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, Kings, New York.
He was married to Mary Dowling who was born in May 1860 in Ireland and immigrated to the United States in 1877. She died on 27 Mar 1935 in Brooklyn, Kings, NY. The date and place of their marriage is currently unknown. They lived together with three sons in Brooklyn, New York. The family was listed in the 1892 New York State Census where Michael's occupation was listed as Blacksmith.
Their three sons were: Edward Patrick Gowen 1885–1955, Philip Domenick Gowen 1887–1955 (My grandfather), and Joseph Michael Gowen 1889–1962 sometimes recorded as MichaelJoseph Gowen
The family story is that first name of Michael's father was Samuel but I have no documentation that proves this to be true.
I can be contacted by email at: email@example.com or by postal mail at: Edward Gowen, P.O. Box 1557, Fort Valley, GA
I am Edward J Gowen, Jr. born 6 April 1946 in Brooklyn, New York and currently linving in Fort Valley, Georgia.
My father was Edward J Gowen, Sr. born 9 May 1914, died 1 December 1968 both in Brooklyn, New York
His brother was Philip D Gowen, Jr born 19 September 1917, died 9 April 1987 both in Brooklyn, New York. This Philip was generally called Bud and married Constance (Connie) Roko 10 July 1945.
