I'm researching Abner GILMORE, who lived in Winn, Franklin, Caldwell, and Allen Parishes in Louisiana. I see evidence that he was married to a Sarah E J KEEN (sometimes called Josephine). I see no evidence of her being alive after the 1900 census, where Abner is listed as a widower. However, on later censuses there are additional children listed as his children, who were born after 1900. The 1900 census clearly states that Abner was a widower and no wife is listed. The 1910 census lists 2 additional daughters, Loury and Lula, born after 1900. No wife is listed on the 1910 census. There is another girl, Emma, who another census implies is another daughter of Abner (she's listed on the 1920 census in the home of her sister's husband as a sister-in-law, as is "Lura," who based on her age is Loury from the 1910 census). Did Abner marry again (and the new wife die before the 1910 census)? Was he listed as a widower erroneously? Are the two or three daughters adopted or foster children?
I would love someone to fill me in about my cousin George Gilmore, born 1898 and died 1985. I remember meeting George when I was very young but living in the UK didn't realise his goings on, would someone who knows more of the history about George, please get in touch. What sort of man he really was, etc. also why his mother Frances (my great Aunt) was sent to prison for a time of the troubles in the 1930s ?
I am trying to trace my history as all of you are. Do you know anything about the Gilmores? My family i from Midlnd, Texas and goes back to For Worth where my great grandfather Gilmore was head of a hospital in Fort Worth.
