I am looking for the Family of someone Killed at Sea during WW2.
His Surname was Deitz, First Names possibly Anton or Ivan, maybe Anton Ivan Deitz. he served with the German Navy and was lost at sea during the war in a U Boat, so i have been informed.
I do Know that in pre-war Years he was stationed at a naval base in the Newcastle or Sunderland area of UK, and Married Catherine Young from South Shields. They had 3 Daughters, Marguerita, Geraldine and Sally.
With the threat of War his company was recalled home from UK.
I do have 2 Photographs of him, one is in his Naval uniform and the second is with his 3 daughters estimated to be taken in South Shields early 1939, at around 35 to 40 years of age.
Written on back of Photo in Naval uniform.... To Rita, Dad born January 22nd 1901. Died at Sea - June 17th 1942. "Lest we forget"
If anyone can assist in my research into this, i would be grateful as he was my Grandfather!
