The portrait is of a Hedwig Elizabeth HALVORSON. She is standing on a bridge somewhere in Chicago, IL.
The picture was taken by her fiance, Olaf MYHR.
So, why am I posting in BRISBIN rather than MYHR or HALVORSON? I will be posting there also. I want as much coverage as possible
According to the 1940 census, Olaf and Hedwig had two children. A daughter, Harriett A. Myhr (age 6), and a son, Marvin B. Myhr (age 2). Here comes the reason for the post here ...
In 1958 Marvin has married a Janet C Brisbih (sic - requested a correction to digital Washington archives site - http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/Record/View/84C76C879860A425F78BAF52C08734C0) The spelling is incorect as I'm able to trace Janet back to the 1940 census; where she is shown as the daughter of Jerry and Elva BRISBIN.
I have both a picture of the item and a picture of the 'story' that is on the back of the item. Unfortunately they're on my phone at this time.
The story states:
This picture of Hedwig Elizabeth Halvorson was taken by Olaf Myhr on March 24, 1929, Palm Sunday. The location is somewhere in Chicago, Illnois.
Olaf and Hedwig were engaged at this time. The story of this picture is that Olaf had the snapshot made into an actual photograph and professionally framed. Then Olaf hung the picture in the apartment where he and Hedwig were going to live. Hedwig did not know about the framed picture untili Olaf took her to see the apartment, he had the picture hanging there in the apartment as a special surprise for her.
