Applications on myspace and facebook show little pushpins on a world map of where you have been.
I think it would be cool, if there was an application you could add to the home page where it pinned the locations of ancestors.
The settings on this application could allow you to choose how far back in the tree you wish to go, or how general/broad you want the pushpins to be.
To take it another step further, this could coincide with google maps so that you could actually see what it is today, and zoom in and see pictures.
To go absolutely nuts, it could also show history on that area in terms of its name and how it changed, especially if it is Europe which only recently has had its boundaries drawn.
i was thinking it would be cool, if, on top of showing "how one person is related to the other, say, 'second cousin once removed'", that a more profound metric would be the percentage of shared DNA one has to a common progenitor, and by default, this could be the earliest person in such a tree.
Since this only makes sense when you choose a common progentior, it could be a report or a chart.
What percentage of blood relations/dna am I to Ancestor A? Am I more closely related to Ancestor A than my third cousin or not?
It is hard to tell if a 4th cousin 5 times removed is more related to a common progenitor than a 5th cousin 3 times removed... or something like that. It doesn't always click.
