I'm using Family Tree Builder and have both my mother's and father's family in one tree. I'd like to separate these two families now and have 1 tree for each. Can I do this in FTB and include all the notes, pictures, citations, etc. for each tree respectively? Help, my one tree is getting too big!! Thanks.
I am trying to research my great-grandfather from Italy, and not sure if I have found the right one. How do I know if the information I have found is the right Guiseppe? My father and Uncle have given me all the info they know, which doesn't include the year he arrived in New York.
Also, He supposedly came to NY twice, the second time with his wife. I cannot find any info on her. Any ideas why?
I am new to this, and any help offered would be greatly appreciated.
It's so easy to edit online, I did it from day one. Yes I uploaded a gedcom from my home program, or you can add them as you go.
If you are using the "classic look"3D tree, on the lefthand side of your page will be 2 tabs "LIST" or "PERSON". Click on person, it has a "edit details" tab there under the photo. You put in the dates of birth, death, marriage. Then when you are finished with that one, there will be detail under the photo of those you just put in. To put in places, (would've been handy to do this at same time) you click a box next to the one you want to edit and "edit" comes up, click that and a box will open up to put in places.
Easier to add parents as you already have the boxes above that person that says "Add Father or Mother" or "Add sibling"
I'm thinking maybe your problems are that your signing on as a guest not a webmaster, you may have to go back to your emails from Heritage to have a look at your passwords.
Hope this helps everyone, only takes 2 minutes to show you, harder to write it down.
It gets 100%, but just sits there on 'processing' or updating to site. I've tried to upload for the past couple of days with the same thing happening everytime. The other day I had to go out and left the computer on so the upload could finish and after many hours it was still sitting on 100%, but still 'processing' to site. The only option in the program is to 'Cancel'. The 'finish' button is greyed out and not clickable. This just stays like that for hours, and if I want to close the program or go back to viewing the tree I have to select the 'Cancel' button. If I click 'Cancel' what does this mean?? What data is lost?
I've checked the site and my tree is there, but I'm concerned that some info or data isn't being transfered because it just isn't 'fininshing' a proper upload.
Thing I noticed on the site is this: Usually after an upload the home page has something like: this person has uploaded a new tree.. This isn't there now. Which leads me to think that the tree isn't uploading properly.
For the last few days I have had the program upload the new information and it goes from ) to 99% pretty quick, but the other day I waited almost 30 minutes. Today I made a few changes and its doing it again almost 20 minutes and it hasn't completed the upload, what's going on?
When publishing online, and giving membership access as a guest to other people, can I set some sort of 'privacy' on e.g. everyone who is not an adult? If not, what sort of privacy options are there and how can I access them?
