Before my grandfather passed away in April 2001, he asked my mother to promise to never try & trace the family tree. Naturally, this has me fascinated, and leaves me wondering why exactly! I have copies of both his birth certificate and my mothers - nothing untoward; so maybe there is another (illegitimate) branch of family somewhere that we don't know about? He was in the navy, both Royal and Merchant, for many years so could easily have fathered other children abroad.
Assuming that this even is the big secret, how would I go about finding out?
He whas the Father of lady Anne Barnard nee Lindsay born 12 December 1750died 6 may 1825 in London U K .I need the names of all his ( James Lindsay)daugthers with birth dates and who the married and if possible there childrens names.
I'm new to this and really don't know how to begin. How do I go about finding my grandparents when I don't know their names??? My father died when I was only 6 yrs old. So I didn't get to know him or his family. My siblings never really ask him anything. They only say he never talked about his side of the family because they had all passed away.. So now the only thing I have to go on is his name and date of birth.. Ervin Elwayne Wagner b.Aug 10, 1929 d. May 20,1983.. and his SS#.. Could someone point me in the write direction?? I would like to find out more about him and his family.
I would like to locate a direct current family member of a person whose name and address I know from around 1910. I think this person was a young boy at the time, though, so there wouldn't be any adult records. But maybe the family name and address will be sufficient. Can someone tell me how I can do this very economically? Thank you.
