I'm starting a search to try and find out my nationality on my paternal side. I found out at the age of 20 that my Mother was artificailly inseminated. This enhanced my already profound interest and curiousity in my ancestral lineages. I took years before I made the plunge to really start diggin into my DNA and begin researching.
So far, I have done one DNA test at Family Tree DNA. I also uploaded the files to GedMatch. I also have been looking into Donor Sibling Registry, but haven't registered yet because the lady that runs the site asks for almost $200 to post a message.
Luckily my Mothers family has easily traceable DNA, having family that arrived on the Mayflower and also were original colonists in Jamestown. I know her heritage is a mix of British, Irish, and Swedish, and supposedly containing some Native America heritage way back. However, my FTDNA results didn't help me decipher anything about my father so far. It states that I am 100% European, basically almost 1/3 British Isles, 1/3 Scandinavian, and almost 1/3 Western European, with some Southern European. I see that with the Family Finder autosomal results, I have connections to people that have family in Britain, which would make sense because of my Mother's heritage. I also see that there are connections in Northern Spain, Germany, and Italy. Is there any likelihood that I have Spanish, German, or Italian heritage?
I'm next going register at 23 and Me, and also get my Mother tested. I have been reading a lot about this, and have heard of using a triangulation method to help find family from my Father's side. I'm just wanting to directly talk to anyone that has experience with this, can help, or possibly can shed some light on my current DNA results.

What is the best way to create a data base where members can easily check which names relate to what family branch?
Once a tree gets quite large, mine is now approaching 8000 with many family branches. Names start to become meaningless to the various family branch members.
ie. I might get a record match which throws up a new name by marriage. After including in the tree it will show on the 'Home' page but members will not easily be able to check exactly who's family that new person relates too.
Even I, even working with it almost every day, often cannot now recognise many names or decide on their relationship within the tree.
I suspect most will suggest an excel spreadsheet but I cannot decide how to go about it.
