I found out a year ago, that the father who raised me was not my birth father. I am searching for him now. He may have passed away, although I don't know for sure.. He would be in his 80's now, I believe, if he is still alive. He is supposed to have gone to New York State in '56 or '57 after leaving Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His name is Ernest Gomm. I'm desperate for info and haven't been able to get anywhere with my search. He was born in the UK. Does anyone out there have ANY kind of info on my dad?

Have been doing family genealogy for about 20 years and for most of that time have been looking for my husband's maternal grandmother, Bertha Schechter, who died in Brooklyn, NY about 1955 or 1956. Because of a divorce she is not buried in family plot and have tried all conventional ways. If anyone has any other ideas would be grateful. Thanks.
