Let me start by saying I was one of many that upgraded to vs8.0, which caused me major headaches. After many days and attempts, I was finally able to get my tree and data back into 7.0. However, I am now having an issue when I try to run a report within vs 7. The process gets about half through when I receive an error stating the GEDCOM file does not exist. I thought by save the database a report could be generated. I never ran into this issue using 7.0 before. Did 8.0 mess something up? What do I do to fix it?
Interesting how the "latest version" of Fam Tree Builder ver 8 on Windows shuts down when it can't create the default folder on first run after installation. Is there a command line mode or key sequence that will prevent FTB8 from shutting itself down? I've even tried opening as admistrator. I usually pick my own custom folder for data for a lot of other applications. Why FTB8 does NOT have "custom installation" for this is a bit baffling. Screen shot attached.
Where can i get action on a feature I have requested since V6. Don't tell me to contact support because I got no satisfaction from them.

Some time ago I enquired about changing the default location of the projects directory. I was using V6 at the time. I was told that it was not possible to change the default location permanently and to download V7 which I have just done, but it still won't allow the default location to be permanently changed.
The reason I want to change it is I have all my files on a portable drive for security reasons. Can this be done with V8, if not I would say this is a serious flaw in the program.
If the layout of the Names, dates, female maiden names can be set, why not the default project location?
Hoping this serious flaw is fixed in V8. I will not be downloading this latest version if it isn't. Do you have a reason for this oversight?

Can i goto to the top for a resolution to this problem. There appear to be no links to the top man.
I have come across a problem in the facts in FTB. In the "Religion" fact type, it is not possible to record the actual religion in the "description" field - it will not save. So the "description" becomes blank if you click "save" and then re-open. I have gotten around this by using the "Church" fact type instead of "Religion".
I upgraded myheritage family tree to version 8. I had issues with downloading but got it to upgrade finally then when I tried to load my project, it keeps saying failed to open project please contact my heritage if problem persists. So then I tried to restore from file on my computer and it also did not work. Then I tried to restore from my site and it says it was not downloaded successfully. Not sure what I should do now, just contact support?
When I downloaded the family tree builder on my Apple Mac it caused a double up as seen on the photo, I have confirmed 2340 smart matches and have 4295 smart matches to view. The other tells me that I have 8934 smart matches to view with 134 smart matches confirmed by others.
How can I get rid of the one that says 8934 smart matches, there are names there that I can't find and have nothing to do with my tree. Please help.
It's about time the Management of "MyHeritage" give your paying customers some feedback on the status of FTB Ver #8, it still appears to be full of flaws!
This would have to be the worst release (accept for MS Vista) of any software I have ever experiensed and I WILL NOT USE Ver #8 until someone can give me positive feedback!
In previous versions of Family Tree Builder (pre Version 8) I could easily merge two trees by importing one into the other as Gedcom files. I am now informed that this facility is not currently available in Version 8, which is a real pain in the backside. What I want to know is, when will it be available again?
I started my tree with my 3rd great grandfather and later expanded to my 6th great granfather. My problem is when i what to print my tree it prints fom great grandfather #6 to #4 then I have to start printing again and this doesn't keep the generations correctly.
I just downloaded Family Tree Builder. My main tree is on Ancestry, ~6000 people, with lots of sources. I started a small tree on MyHeritage to work on my Norwegians lines. So now I have the small tree on FTB and MH that has ~400 people, of which ~50 are in my Ancestry tree.
I was thinking that a good way to proceed would be to use FTB to merge the Ancestry and MH trees, and then split into branches, then upload those to MyHertitage. I also have a Legacy, Roots Magic and Family Tree Maker desktop software but only the Family Tree Maker tree is current.
Is this doable? Is this a good approach? What would you suggest?
I upgraded my builder to 8 and today I noticed I have lost my virtual cemetery. Tried installing the latest version today but it still is missing. They are all gone (although the photos are in the file) There is no feature to add new photos to the virtual cemetery. Your help manual says there should be.
Hi, I'm having a problem that I had the same problem before. In the "Family Site" There are some names which shows the names as "Unknown". When I change the language of the website to Turkish " I can see the names of the persons who had unknown names. But other names became unknow now. Before I solved this problem by merging person to one language. But I can't find that option in the new version anymore. How can I fix this.
How can I fix this problem? I see many other (paying) users are complaining, but nowhere can I find a solution!!
Its it trying to tell me the online database was not syncing, and when visiting the website (online data) is did not sync whils I am online and can do all other online activities.
This seems to be a glitch or error in the app self. MyHeritage please advice.
I suspect the workaround will be to export the GEDCOM file from the off-line app, then import it from the website after login into it. What a slob...
My parents never married yet the software doesn't ever change the status. You can choose partner or friend but when you print off a report it always says husband and wife. I would rather something like Male and Female partner. That way the information is more accurate because my dad is not my moms husband and that is confusing when the report says husband and wife.
An example attached and the status for their relationship is partner so you know.
I have recently spent a lot of time going through the photos in FTB, deleting duplicates and making sure that each photo is properly assocuiated with the people in it. This would have been a lot easier if there were:
1: A way of sorting the photos in the table view using the column headings - that is, the normal way of sorting a table in a database, by clicking on the column heading.
2: A way of searching the photo database for a particular photo, by name and/or associations. I have found a photo in an album that I want to copy to another album - which is a great idea, but I cannot find it in the main photo list, and dragging it from its existing album moves it rather than copying. I know that you can put the photo in two albums, but it seems this can only be done from the 'all' photos page - it is difficult to find the right photo out of the over 800 I have.
