Optimum photo size to import?

When I import a photo, MyHeritage invariably either shrinks or expands the image size (I guess to best fit the frame). What is the ideal, portrait, size of an image so it neither shrinks nor expands the image? (Then I can edit the image to that size before importing into MyHeritage,Thank you...

Hi Leonard,

The best proportions for a photo should be 3X4.

The file size should not be too small (1K) and not too big (10MB) - 1MB is enough for good quality, without  taking up too much storage space.

There is also a limit on the pixel size - so if a photo gets distorted, you should try to lower the DPI.

Dear William,

 

Thank you for writing and we appreciate your patience regarding this matter.

There is no real limit to the resolution of photos that you upload - what I mean by that is that you can upload pictures as high as 10k x 10k, but the servers will reduce the size and the quality as we are not a company to store high-res photos.
