I wonder what can be done to make the Gedcom export/download compatible with other genealogy programs. Currently i am trying to download other gedcoms and meeerrge hem using other software but the gedcom from my heritage loses some data in the process and I have to manually go through hundreds of names and double check/correct them. downloads from site are compressed gedcom, and only my heritage will open them, then export gedcom loses data.

Hi Ron,

What data did you find that is lost when you export to Gedcom? Can you give me an example so we can check this?

When I created the Gedcom I had almost 20 people records in it that showed no name, yet still showed birthdates, i tried the gedcom in several different genealogy programs and all did the same thing. yet if I opened it with my heritage software no problem. I was in particular trying to use it in rootes magic software because of the good merge capapbilities. So that  can merge gedcoms from other my heritage sites and then put it back on my my heritage site. Because my heritage does not have complex merge yet.

Can you elaborate on which gedcom tags did not have a name?

You can send me the zedcom file you are working with to my email address at uri@myheritage.com

The zedcom file is in My Documents\MyHeritage\<name of your project>\database
