Lost saved data on Family Tree Builder

I had my site for more than a year now. Every now and then I do updates when there are new informations. And now I will make an update but I found out that MyHeritage folder together with my saved member's datas on my computer were deleted.

My problem now is the datas of family tree members. Is there's a way I can download all the datas uploaded to MyHeritage sites to my computer so I can edit, update and publish again. By the way I'm only using the free account.

I hope someone could help me with this.

Thanks

Updates:

I found the gedcom download and sucessfully downloaded it and loaded in the family tree builder but without pictures. Do I have to add pictures one by one again?

Hi Sharlene

It was really frustrating when I learned that Family Tree Builder in my computer was accidentally deleted or uninstalled. I thought I had to collect datas and build again my project. Its nice that there is this option from MyHeritage to download the family tree data. It was really easy but you have to attach pictures to your members again, far more easier than building again.

First, make sure you already installed the latest Family Tree Builder (Ver.3.0.0836 is the latest) in your computer. Login to your site and go to Family Tree tab (next to Home tab) then click on Manage Trees. On the far right, you will see 'download' under the 'Actions' column.Click on 'download' to download the *.zed files (this is your project name) to your computer. After downloading, double click the filename (this is compressed into zip file) and it will automatically open in you Family Tree Builder. As I said before, you have to add photos into each member. If  you doesn't have back-up photos in your computer, you can download the photos from your site. Don't forget to back-up your project.

Goodluck.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you had your data deleted. It's possible that your information on your computer did not get deleted, but was transferred to another location on your computer. Please conduct a search for *.zed files on your entire computer. You may be able to find the family tree data and its photos somewhere else, e.g. below c:\documents and settings instead of below c:\program files\myheritage where the program may be expecting it. If so, it will be very easy to salvage your original data.

At the moment, we store the tree data (.zed file) and the photos separately on the server, so they cannot be retrieved together. So you managed to download the .zed file without the photos. To get the photos separately, navigate to your family site and visit the family tree photos album, and then click 'Download all photos' to get them to your computer. You can then add the photos again to your project (we're working on making it far easier to do this).

Good luck,   Gilad

Hi Sir Gilad,

Thanks for the prompt response. Unfortunately all MyHeritage folder in my drive C were empty. Well I guessed I unconsciously uninstalled my old Family Tree Builder. Fortunately for us, we can download the tree datas (*.zed files) from the site and I was able to update and published the data without building again. Attaching photos to each member is far more easier than building again. Now I do back-ups in drive D.

Thanks again and more power to MyHeritage.

Alaric
