Unique surnames?

Just browsing and noticed under the family tree tab, where manage trees is, there's some stats, one of which says "unique surnames". What does this mean? Is this the amount of surnames which only appear once in the family tree?

Hi Robin,

Unique Surnames are just the different lastnames that are in your tree (no matter how many times they are listed).

Best Regards,

Oh okay, I thought that was what "Families" were - I thought each family was counted by their surname (ie, "family name") but I guess they are just counted by a mother and father and their children? Thanks.
