My son is not with the mother of his son but there is no allowance for not married in the first place . they were not married or divorced ? so how do i put in my grandson.
There are two possible ways for building your tree in this case.
1. If you want to only add your son’s son (your grandson), without even adding the son’s mother you can do the following. Go to your son in the family tree and click the big ( ) button at the bottom of his card. Select “Add son”. In the form that pops up, you select “No mother (single father)” in the Select mother field (the third field). This will add your son’s son without adding his mother. If you already added the mother, you can simply delete her by clicking the ( ) button at the bottom of her card and select “Delete this person” from the menu on the right.
2. The second option is to add the mother but state that your son and the mother were not married. To do that, you can click your son’s card. Then, on panel on the left side of the screen, you may see in the list of facts that there is a marriage fact for your son and the mother. Remove this fact by clicking the X button on its right. Now, you can add a separation event, if you wish, by clicking the Add link at the top of the Facts list. In the pop up window that opens, select “Separation” in the Type selection list. Click OK and a separation event will be added.
Hope this is helpful.
