When I try to use "automatic merge" of my smart matches... sometimes there are many... they are all merged under one individual instead of separately. When this happens the name area lists all the names of the all the individuals in the name field of this one person.
How do I correct this?
How do I undo this mistake?
How do I do it correctly so it merges all these names as separate indiviudals in the tree instead of under one person?
This capability does not seem to work the way we would expect it to. You can NOT use the automerge if you are adding new individuals, you must use the step-by-step merge and then control person by person if you are adding a new indiv or you are merging into an existing one.
The other GOTCHA is that there is no mechanism to alert you that a new person being added is already in the tree through some other relationship.
My tree is over 8,000 indiv and most were added step-by-step after I discovered and had to delete all of the automerged indiv's.
We apologize! There has been a bug in Family Tree Builder's automatic merge feature, which we have fixed last week, and it will be rolled out into the next version in the next 2-3 weeks after we complete testing it. Unfortunately there is no "undo" for this so it has to be done manually by editing the affected persons and cleaning up their names and data.
Until the next version, please avoid using the automatic merging, use only manual merging, and I apologize again for this inconvenience.
