Order of Items on Home page

Hi, could you please make it possible to change the order of items on the Home page.  I would like to put my slide show  and events higher so people don't have to scroll down so far to see it.   Also could we have more space for writing Family New?

Thank you.

Hilary

Hi Hilary, First, thanks for the input and I’m glad you’re enjoying the product. Regarding the slideshow, we currently don’t have a way to rearrange the sections in the home page. However, any member of the site that you invited that chooses to close the Family News section (by clicking the little up arrow at the top right of the section) will see your slide show instead of the news. In fact, instead or in addition to the slideshow, what we are thinking of doing is to add a quick way, somewhere at the top of the page, to see the photos that were recently added to the family site. This way, what you’ll see in this area will always be fresh and up-to-date. What do you think of this idea? Regarding the family news: This was meant to be a quick way to add a simple “one-liner” about what you’re up to. The news is added to the newsfeed and then disappears as more recent news is added or created. Instead, if you want to add a more permanent and longer posting, you can use the “Add news article” button at the bottom of the screen. This will create a news article that will stay on the home page as long as you keep it there. Will that be a good solution for you? If not, let me know what you were thinking. Hope this helps, Uri GonenMyHeritage Product Manager

Hello Uri,

Love your site --I had a couple thoughts/suggestions as I was reading your reply to Hillary's question....

My site has a very long, large, white/unused space on the left side under the menu list and under the "Invite Close Family" section - my thoughts:  1). What if you moved the Family News one-liner section under this "Invite Close Family" section, and then also moved the "What's Next" section (administrator's pg) under the Family News section to better utilize that unused left menu/margin space--- that would effectively bring up the Slideshow section Hillary was asking about.....? -- my left margin space is loooong because I have added 3 news articles and I don't delete recent comments so visitors can see activity on the site...

2). I noticed that on the left menu several things are repeated there as well as being listed already across the top of the page (Invite more family & Find family, in particular) and could be deleted on the left as being redundant - and would give more space on the left for the Family News feature... also the Add Photos & Tag People on the left could be moved up top next to the Find family link across the top.... that would help me--maybe others would like it, also...

Thanks for considering,

Ellen (scotsgirl2)
