I really wish there was some way to copy and paste a person to our tree from someone elses, like say we did not have the parents there should be an "add to my tree" option instead of having to write down the names and info I want then going into my tree and adding it... just would make things a lot easier for me since my tree is getting pretty big, too much to write down lol!
How do you man? You just look at your smart matches, click the green marking on the person in your tree that matches. You will see a long list of cinfirmed/unconfirmed matchs, Choose the one that seems to be the best one. Choose merge. You will then get a list of persons to add, automatically or step-by-step merge, mark the persons you want to merge to your tree and thats it. I have added several thousands of persons and never written to my tree by hand.
Okay so I clicked on the green thing on my person in the tree... to view her matches and it gave me a list... there was no merge option on any of them in this section (not even under more options) so I clicked Review match it took me to the page where you can copy the birthday and such of the person from the other tree... still no merge option on here... so I clicked compare trees still no merge option... I must be missing something then?
Thank you for writing. The Smart Matches option (Smart Matches merge) which Jack mantioned is available only within Family Tree Builder software. As I checked you have one tree which is published from Family Tree Builder, and that is why you can not edit it online, I can make it GEDCOM tree so you will be able to edit data online, and easier work with data.
