Family Tree Builder has been tested extensively for Windows 7, however, recently Microsoft upgraded it’s Windows operating system and Windows 8 is already here. Some problems may occur when using the software in Windows 8 until we can finalize testing and this FAQ will give you a solution to fix most of the common issues you may encounter.
A few steps are required:
1) Locate your Family Tree Builder shortcut on the desktop of your computer, right click it, then choose “Properties”.
2) You will see several different tabs, navigate to the “Compatibility” tab.
3) Then change the following:
Check the box labeled “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” and choose “Windows XP”
Check the box labeled “Run this program as an administrator”
Click OK.
The software should work as expected once you follow these steps.
