Saving a tree with a different name.

When saving a tree with a differnet name, the SmartMatches are NOT saved!!!! It would save MONTHS of work if that would be done. If I want to publish my NEW tree (saved with another name) and the SmartMatches were also saved I didn´t have to confirm ALL former matches again. In my tree it is about 100 000 matshes thas are lost.

Hi Jack,

You are right in that if you use the "save as" function in FTB, you create a new project with a new ID. When this project is later published to the MyHeritage site, it will be treated as a new tree and new Smart Matches will be calculated for it.

A possible workaround for your problem is to use the "rename" function instead. Go to File > Close project, and then to File > Manage Trees. In this menu you will be able to rename your tree without changing its ID.

Regards,

Noam

Thanks for your answer.

Found out a much easier way. Copy the SmartMatching library file from the "old" tree library to the new one.

Sure, that can work too. Though you will still have to wait for the online processing of the tree to see the matches online.

And does that happen automatically or is it a function that has to be 'encouraged" by myheritage- or it just does NOT work and make the matches.

Hi Daryll,

The new calculation of Record Matches each time the tree changes happens automatically.

I can see that the calculation for you two online trees is now in process, it should be over by tomorrow.

Hi Noam,

I guess I  have done everything wrong. I had quite a number of Record Matches, but felt I was having tree identity problems (internally), so I changed the name and even uploaded the file.

Can you tell if my new tree (new in name only) is accumulating any Record Matches? Sure hate to have to go through all  of this again, oh well, live and learn they say.

Thanks Noam, it appears to be fixed, at least I have almost 300 Record Matches to now go through.

Thanks so much, you guys are the greatest.

James
