Children out of wedlock?!

I have seen a few threads asking about this, but I have yet to find a fix that actually works, or that I have been able to apply...

I have two cases of children born out of wedlock in my family tree, both of whose mothers never married the fathers and the relationship status really should be "none" or "unmarried" or "friends." However, setting it to "none" or putting in a 'seperation' note doesn't seem to do anything, it still tells me the woman is my cousin's wife... or that she is related to me by marriage... and when I create the person on the tree originally, there isn't an option for "unmarried." (Only 'married,' 'divorced,' 'engaged,' or 'none.')

There was a thread that said to click "edit" for [(so and so) and (so and so)] to change them to "friends" - but I couldn't figure out how to do that at all; saw no button to edit a couple.

Does anyone have any answers? Please?

Hi Elizabeth,

This is actually an option that we do not yet have in family trees online, but we are working on creating this option in the online family tree in the near future.

 Please stay tuned,

Best Regards,

Esther / MyHeritage Team

Just wondering, its been almost a year since this post.  Has there been any progress made on the "out of wedlock" issue?

Thanks

Hi,

We are now implementing some very nice new features in the Family Site. This issue will be solved amongst others. It will take a few more months.

Looks like we're still waiting for this feature Undecided any news? This is a serious impediment to using the site IMHO - I'd like to enlist my children's mother in building the tree, but I don't think she'd be too happy to see herself referred to as my wife!

You can now click on the marriage fact in the tree,

and change it to partners, friends, other, etc.

Seems like a common scenerio.  Surprised it wasn't implemented earlier.
