What is the use of Smart Matches when all the information from the other tree is "Private"? I get so many of these useless matches. I recently got "Smart" myself and started using the "Ignore this tree" function on all such matches.
There should be a way that I can block all those matches automatically without having to go through them manually to ignore the trees. Does anyone know if this is possible? I've looked but haven't found any "preferences" for Smart Matches.
Turn off stupid matches altogether. You'll sleep better at night :)
That's probably true, Shelley. Unfortunately, I've got my eye out for relatives since what's left of my immediate family is tiny. My father was an only child, as was his mother (my grandmother), and my grandfather was one of only two children who survived infancy.
Its probably a bug but it is possible to see what the private is. If you view the match and then select the Compare Family Tree Tab you will see what the private stand for. Since I have Swedish as language setting Im not sure of the exact name of the tab.
Anders, thank you. Yes, I figured out a while ago that I could use the "Compare Trees" function (and sometimes one can hover over the star rating), but as many matches as I get, comparing trees is extremely time consuming. I guess I fail to understand why people post their trees on the Internet, then make all the information private except to, I assume, family members. So, unless myheritage can tell me how to block those kind of matches, I'll just keep hitting the Ignore link.
