Mostly the problem arise from distance.
My relatives are spread over all continents !! (We lost Africa last year when a cousin got back to France).
FB has become a useful way to keep a loose contact.
For sure it would be interesting for me (and perhaps some others MH members) to be able to show the family three and invite them to contribute. Any suggestion on that???
I also invated my relatives by FB. Additional I created 4 groups on FB for my relatives and my wife's to communicate with them separately. Unfortunately MyHeritage does not have an option to communicate by groups!
There is currently no direct way to invite people via FaceBook - however you can use other different social networks in order to invite your family such as LinkedIn or you can use Gmail in order to import all the emails you have stored there.
In order to show the tree in FB you can only provide with a link or take a screenshot of it. We do not offer currently a showcase for your tree however we will take this as a suggestion and forward it to the appropriate departments.
This topic ("invitation") repeats and repeats here, because the invitation from MH confuses the most of new customers.
My relatives tried to follow the questions from invitation page.
As result, the most of them entered herself/himself and their parents to NEW family tree! After authorization they have 2 family trees, which confuse them more....
I think, you have in your Data Base a lot of short (1-3 members) family trees, which nobody supports.
It is a result of a bad instruction on this invitation page.
If somebody invite you to his home, he is not give you any opportunity to build a new house in this neighborhood :-)
I have used Facebook to invite many relations. I go to their profile on myheritage and then copy/past the URL into a message on facebook. Some relatives don't speak English, so I change the language before I do the cut and paste.
Let me check what I've understood and done on my (little) experience.
From my tree I copy paste an URL..... o rinto an emalil or into FB/Tw.. The result is the same.
If the guy is not registered in Ancestry, he will NOT see anyting of what I'm pointing to sending him the URL.
You have to register INTO ancestry to see a tree.
So the proposed Idea is to make something special (PDF-like would be good) so specifically into FB a guy THAT YOU HAVE INVITED can look into the tree you are pointing, without having to PREVIOUSLY register.
So he will be free to register if interested.
Hope I've been able to explain, why I didnt find usefull the copy/paste trick.
Best Regards

Ahh, yes. What I do in the message is ask them to send me their email if they would like to join the family tree. Sometimes I'll put some details in that I might know. eg siblings names etc.
I have actually found lots of relatives just by searching facebook for names of people on my tree nd if they don't have tough privacy settings, I can sometimes see who their family/friends are and if there are matching names I will message them to see if they are that person.
Thank you for your posts and my apologies for any mix up that may have happened with the email.
Basically at the moment we do not have any intergration with Facebook yet thank you for the suggestion and I will be sure to forward this to the relevant department for consideration.
