more fields when searching.

I would like to be able to have more criteria when searching in my family tree to create a list.  For instance I would like to be able to figure out if any of my family served in the Civil War.  So I tried to figure out how to export to excel a list of all males that were alive during the years of 1861-1865.

So I suggest that we can search in a date range that we choose.

How about the ability to search for NOTES/FACTS?  The ability to create a list by marriage dates (like the birth/death)?

Better yet, how about the ability to search EVERY FIELD?  With a real search box, not just the name search box.

Hi Eric,

Thank you for writing.

This is a great idea and I will make sure to let our product managers to know about it.

For now, my suggustion to you (and what I do when I work on my tree) is to export to excel the list

of all people, and then use the built in filtering function you have in excel.

If you need more information about the filtering in excel, you can find it in this link:

Excel 2010 has a wonderful filtering system, however I don't have 2010.  I have 2007 which isn't a wonderful filtering system when it comes to dates and date ranges.  You can't do date ranges in 2007.  And to just to filter certain dates is VERY time consuming in 2007.
