For my purposes, it would be very useful to be able to publish a family tree form Family Tree Builder (FTB) including the photos with all the faces tagged AND THEN MAKE THAT ONLINE TREE AND THE PHOTOS EDITABLE ONLINE.
This would solve two key issues for those of us collaborating online on our family tree. First it would allow us to do our own backup of the online tree to FTB and later restore the editable online tree from FTB in case the online tree gets "broken" somehow. (I have a tendency to break things so I like to have my own backup). Second, it provides a mechanism for using FTB to merge trees offline with photos with faces tagged and then put the merged tree back onto MyHeritage as an editable online tree -- again with photos with people associated and tagged.
Note that the customer should be able to make both the tree and the photos editable after publishing the tree to MyHeritage.com from FTB.
Without this or some equivalent capability, MyHeritage.com and FTB are only marginally useful to those of us trying to collaborate online on a family tree with tagged / associated photos.
Our developers are currently working very hard on producing a new version of Family Tree Builder that will offer a full sync between the site and the program, so that the tree from the program will be editable online, as well as the photos.
Stay tuned- it should be released in the upcoming year!
I did not at all mean to imply that the online family tree should be editable by anyone else by default. The administrator/owner should definitely have control over who can make changes including having the option of the admin herself not being able to change the tree online. That's a very sensible way to operate for a one person operation. But, in our case, a few of us would be working on different parts of the tree, so it's handy to do that online.
When you edit your tree online, you can limit your site members' editing privileges for the site and tree, in your site Settings> Privacy, if you click on the Members tab.
